Our Vision
At our ECD centre, our vision revolves around providing learners with a comprehensive education deeply rooted in Islāmic values and principles. We place a strong emphasis on Qur'ānic studies and the teachings of the Prophet Muḥammad صلى الله عليه وسلم. Moreover, we prioritize moral and ethical development, aiming to prepare our learners to be active and responsible members of the Muslim community. We strive to instill in them a sense of pride and connection to their Islāmic heritage.
Our Aims
Recognizing the need for a Muslim-centric syllabus in schools, we acknowledge its ability to provide Muslim learners with a sense of identity, belonging, and connection. Such an environment positively impacts their self-esteem and academic performance. Additionally, our syllabus offers learners a deeper understanding and appreciation of their religious heritage, empowering them to become more informed and engaged members of their communities. Ultimately, our goal is to equip learners with the tools and knowledge to navigate the world in a manner that serves Allāh, the Ummah, and themselves.
Immersive Learning Experience
Our aim is to provide our children with an immersive learning experience filled with fun, play, and remembrance of Allāh. We have designed systems where specific adhkār (remembrance of Allāh) are played to indicate breaks and clean-up time between lessons. Movement is incorporated into our lessons as we believe children were not meant to sit behind a desk indefinitely. Brain breaks offer short exercise sessions that encourage crossing the midline while making dhikr (remembrance of Allāh). We also strive to challenge our learners and expose them to exciting possibilities in the adult world. Each month, we invite professionals from relevant fields to share their expertise, setting up themed stations that reflect the profession being taught. Additionally, we have challenge areas where learners can engage with specific patterns, famous buildings, and child-friendly sequence sudokus.
Grade RR & R
To achieve our vision, we have invested in creating our very own syllabus rooted in an Islāmic ethos, creativity, and learning through play. Recognizing the importance of creativity in education, we strive to cultivate it as a means to generate valuable ideas. Our ultimate goal is to make learning a joyful experience, where children are so engaged in play that they seamlessly absorb knowledge. During the development of our syllabus, we extensively researched various curricula, including Cambridge, American Common Core, Finnish National Curriculum, Montessori, Waldorf, and Charlotte Mason, to ensure that our syllabus adheres to two standards: Qur'ānic elements throughout and alignment with the national CAPS curriculum of South Africa.
Grade 1
Grade 1 is a pivotal year in a child's learning journey. It sets the foundation for future growth, confidence, and success. We encourage parents to support their child's transition by ensuring a positive experience during the initial days of school.
The Grade 1 curriculum consists of three subjects: Language (English, Afrikaans and Arabic), Mathematics, and Life Skills. Our approach to teaching emphasizes perceptual development, starting from the known and advancing to the unknown, tailored to individual needs.
In Language and Literacy, our learners will learn to read and create their own written stories, with materials and approaches designed to suit each pupil's unique pace.
In Mathematics, we introduce new concepts through problem-solving, exploratory, and investigative learning. Learners are encouraged to recognize and manipulate numbers, with differentiated tasks to accommodate various competence levels. We focus on real-life experiences to foster a deep understanding of mathematical skills.
Our creative development program exposes pupils to various media and materials, promoting individual and group work in painting, drawing, design, and construction.
We look forward to welcoming your child to our Grade 1 class and embarking on this exciting journey of learning, growth, and discovery together.
