School hours are as follows:

Grade 1 & 2 - Monday to Thursday, 07:30 to 12:30, 15:00 to 17:00 and on Fridays, 07:30 to 11:30.

Grade R - Monday to Thursday, 07:45 to 12:20, and on Fridays, 07:45 to 11:30.

Grade RR - Monday to Friday, 07:45 to 11:30.

Each of our learning spaces has been thoughtfully named after significant places from the time of Prophet Muḥammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم)  allowing us to reflect on the rich heritage of knowledge and spirituality. Allow us to introduce you to some of our remarkable learning spaces:

Şuffah (Şalāh and Dhikr Area, Book Nook, Communal Learning):

Step into the Şuffah, named after the platform where the Companions رضي الله عنهم would gather to seek knowledge from the Prophet MUḤAMMAD صلى الله عليهوسلم. In this versatile space, we come together for prayer, engage in remembrance of Allāh (dhikr), and immerse ourselves in the joy of reading and learning. It serves as a vibrant hub for communal growth and shared knowledge.


GRADE 2

Alhamdulillāh, Urwah Academy is growing! We are excited to announce that we have expanded our curriculum to include Grade 2, continuing our mission of providing a well-rounded, Islāmically integrated education.

 

Our holistic approach ensures that learners develop academically, spiritually, and practically. Our Grade 2 curriculum includes:

 

✅ Literacy & Numeracy – Building strong reading, writing, and mathematical foundations.

✅ Life Skills – Encouraging critical thinking, problem-solving, and social development.

✅ Arabic & Afrikaans – Strengthening language skills for communication and cultural awareness.

Grade 1 


We are excited to announce that for the year 2024, we are introducing a Grade 1 class following the Guardian Institute's Islāmicised CAPS aligned curriculum. At our school, we believe in a brave new approach to education, focusing on multi-sensory learning and the power of play. Our educational philosophy is grounded in Qurānic themes, fostering an environment where children can learn about, love, and know Allāh. Grade R (B'IR Maraq):
Welcome to the Grade R classroom, affectionately known as  Maraq. The name  Maraq originates from the historic encounter when a delegation from Madīnah visited the Prophet Muḥammad

 صلى الله عليه وسلم in Makkah, requesting a teacher. Mus'ab bin Umayr رضي الله عنهwas chosen to relocate to Madīnah and teach the community. He would meet the senior tribesmen in a garden near a well, which was called Maraq. It was within this serene setting that the senior tribesmen were introduced to the teachings of Islām.

Grade RR (Dār al Arqam):
Our Grade RR classroom is named after the Dār al Arqam, which was the very first learning space of Islām. This cherished location belonged to a Şaḥābī (Companion) named Arqam bin Abi al Arqam رضي الله عنه. The house, strategically positioned at the northern base of Mount Şafā, served as a secret center for the propagation of Islām. It was within the walls of Dār al  Arqam that the Prophet Muḥammad  صلى الله عليه وسلم would impart the divine knowledge revealed to him. Countless verses of the Quran were revealed and taught here, marking it as a sacred space in the history of Islām.
